I'm buying a home that is part of a succession for cash is it necessary that I have a title search done?

I am of the believe that one should ALWAYS have a title search done when buying real estate in Texas. In the state of Texas, one does not have to have title insurance though... Only if you get a mortgage on the property would you have to have a title insurance policy. There is a difference between title insurance and a title search... You can do a title search at the county courthouse.
