For me, Twitter has turned into a "train station" for me... Meaning, you can talk, but there are so many other people having their own conversations, some on cell phones, some listening to music, so much, that my words don't reach anyone real, or worthwhile.
Twitter is cool, it's a cool idea, but to use it as a successful marketing platform, means you have to grow your network, growing your network means you are bombarded with lots of worthless junk.
And your message can only be heard if everyone on your network only is following a few people.
Someone should code a widget that measures the "attention span" of the people that follow you, measuring how many people they are following. If your network is comprised of people who they themselves are following 1000 people, your message won't be heard, however if your network is made up of 1000s of people only following a few, its a very powerful message.
Once again, making quality over quantity the lesson in twitter. I Don't think twitter has much of a shelf life, it's already annoying for me and i've only used it for a few months.
