You want to consolidate what loan? Are you talking about student loans?

I think it is great that you would like to buy a home. Make sure that your credit score is high (over 700). Make sure that you are not carrying debt (credit cards, car note, etc). Save your money for a down payment. Get a job. You won't get a mortgage without a down payment, verifiable income, a decent credit score and low debt to income ratio. If you've got all those ducks in a row, then the world is your oyster. There are great homes out there at great prices and the interest rates are still terrific.
